The most defining chapters of our lives rarely begin with a grand plan. Mine began with exhaustion, a nudge from a friend, and a decision I almost didn't make.

I was pregnant with my third daughter, exhausted from years of traveling, and desperate to be home with my children. That’s when my close friend nudged me toward getting my real estate license. At first, I hesitated…because I had a terrible impression of real estate agents. I was used to dealing with CEOs of large corporations and real estate agents seemed worlds apart from that.
Nevertheless, I got my license and decided to be a different kind of agent: one who offers intelligent, well-informed advice. When my colleagues found out I had a real estate license, more and more of them began asking for help with their homes. That’s how my career as a REALTOR® was born.
Everything I am, as an agent and as a person, traces back to where I came from. I grew up in Redwood City, California, in a family that struggled with more than just finances. My mother suffered from severe depression and schizophrenia, and my father battled alcoholism.
As the eldest child, I became a caretaker. I put college on hold so I could care for my mother and younger brothers while working three jobs simultaneously. I attended junior college, lifeguarded at a local lake, and worked at a summer camp, all while holding my family together.
Eventually, I fulfilled my dream of attending a four-year college, earned a business degree in organizational behavior, and landed a job at a manufacturing company, where I helped streamline operations. I also started a concierge business, providing services for busy executives—dry cleaning, car washing, errands, whatever they needed.
I pitched my concierge services to Oracle’s HR department. Oracle was a tech company and they seemed interested—not in the service, but in me.
“Do you have any legal experience?” an HR staff member asked.
“No,” I replied, surprised by the random question. I was there to hopefully meet executives who needed their clothes dry cleaned.
“Well,” said the staff member, “we’ll teach you how to redline and negotiate contracts. I’d like to offer you a job.”
At first, I wasn’t convinced, but the opportunity was too good to pass up. That unexpected conversation launched my twenty-year career in tech.
I spent years negotiating contracts before moving into software sales, covering the West Coast and working with major clients such as Safeway and the State of California. People naturally trusted me, and I genuinely enjoyed solving their problems. It was a role tailor-made for me.
Throughout those years, I welcomed my daughters: Tierra, Siena, and Gianna. When Gianna was born, I could no longer keep up with the travel and the long hours that my job demanded. Real estate initially seemed like a compromise, but it quickly became a calling. The challenge was immense: learning a new industry, building a business, and balancing motherhood with a demanding career. But I was persistent.
Being a REALTOR® gave me the opportunity to connect deeply with my clients. After watching my mother struggle with mental illness, I have learned that mental health is more fragile than people realize. You never know what someone is going through, that’s why I strive to always lead with kindness and extend a helping hand without judging the person or their circumstances.
Outside of work, I’m happiest when I’m in nature. I love animals—my eldest daughter is actually a veterinarian—and my heritage shines through in my love for good food and family gatherings.
Looking back, every challenge has shaped me into someone who values kindness, persistence, and practical love. I’m grateful for the struggles because they taught me to lead with my heart, and to find purpose in helping others, no matter where the path leads.
What sets me apart from other REALTORS® is my deep-rooted connection to the community—I’m a fourth-generation Redwood City resident who knows the neighborhoods, soils, and homes inside and out. My background in tech sales and contract negotiation gives me a strong edge in negotiations, allowing me to ask the right questions, understand both sides, and close deals effectively. People trust me easily, which helps me gather important information and build strong relationships with clients and other agents.
I go above and beyond for my clients, sometimes helping them with practical tasks like gardening or preparing their homes. I’m known for my kindness, compassion, and willingness to meet people where they are without judgment. My upbringing taught me resilience, empathy, and the importance of treating others with love and respect. I also have a strong understanding of home construction thanks to my family’s background in the trades, which helps me guide clients knowledgeably. With nearly two decades in this business, I'm persistent, tenacious, generous, and always put my clients' best interests first—even when that means advising them to wait, walk away, or simply not make a move at all.
Sincerely,

Pam Tyson
